Virgil Van Dijk is not just a great player, he’s a gent too.

The referee for the Netherlands game with Germany, Ovidiu Hategan, recently lost his mother.

Right after the full-time whistle the Liverpool defender went to comfort him. After the game he explained…

“He told me his mom recently passed away. He broke down and started crying. I consoled him and told him he refereed well. Its a small thing, but I hope it helped. I wished him strength and said that he had done well.”
