The relationship between Trent Alexander-Arnold and a section of the Liverpool fanbase has taken a fresh hit after his brother, Marcel, aimed a public dig at the club’s recent form.
Following Real Madrid’s exit from the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich on Wednesday, Marcel Alexander-Arnold responded to “hate” from Liverpool supporters during a live stream.
When questioned about his allegiances, he noted that while he is happy when Liverpool win, his primary loyalty lies with his brother.Marcel’s comments took a sharper turn when he brought up Liverpool’s own European failure against PSG.
“Your team got cooked yesterday. Relax,” he told viewers, referencing the Reds’ 2-0 home defeat on Tuesday night.
The exchange has added fuel to the fire regarding Trent’s departure to Madrid last summer, a move that still stings for many at Anfield. While some fans defend the right-back’s legacy, the public nature of his brother’s remarks has highlighted the lingering tension between the local hero and the supporters who once idolised him.
