“The Bertie Mee Song” is a Kop twist on a much older terrace exchange, in which a rival manager asks about their stand only to get a sharper answer back. Versions of the call-and-response exist across English football with different clubs and grounds swapped in; on the Kop, it’s naturally Bill Shankly who gets the last word.

To Bill Shankly
Have you heard of the North Bank, Highbury?
Shanks said No, I don’t think so,
But I’ve heard of the Anny Road aggro….
AG-AGR-AGRO-AGGRO!
