Andoni Iraola is looking forward to returning to the Vitality Stadium, when Liverpool take on his former club AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, the Liverpool boss admitted it will be an emotional one.
“On the personal side, I’m really looking forward to meeting them, to hug them, it’s players that I love, staff that I have been working with, that I appreciate so much,” he said.
“I was pushing for them yesterday when they were playing their first European game and I wish them all the best.
“But there is another part and that is the most important one right now: we need to go there and beat them and be as ruthless as possible, and leave all the talks for after the game.”
Bournemouth haven’t had a good start to the new season and are still looking for their first Premier League win, having drawn three times and lost once.
However, they managed a 2-1 away win at Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night, so it’s not going to be easy on Sunday.
“It’s going to be a tricky one because they obviously know very well what we try to do, on the ball and without the ball,” added Iraola.
“But I also have this advantage – I know their strengths, their weaknesses.”
Liverpool go into the gme feeling a little more confident after beating Tottenham 3-1 in the League Cup last weekend.
This will be the last game before the international break, so it will be good to get a win under our belt.
