Bradley Barcola to Liverpool – Latest

Liverpool are actively trying to wrap up a deal for Bradley Barcola before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Talks between the two clubs have ramped up over the past few days. PSG’s initial valuation of around £140m for the French winger was far too much.

They then dropped the price to £125m, but recent reports suggest they may now be willing to do business closer to the £120m mark now.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is now working hard to try to put together a package of instalments and add-ons that satisfies their valuation.

A major factor working in Liverpool’s favour is that Barcola is keen on the move to Anfield. He has turned down a new contract offer from PSG, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue if the two clubs can agree on a fee.

On the pitch, Barcola fits what Liverpool need out wide, as was apparent during the Premier League opener at Newcastle on Sunday.

He is quick, comfortable taking defenders on one-on-one, and creates chances by attacking the box directly rather than just waiting on the wing.

At 23, he already has plenty of top-level experience in Ligue 1, the Champions League, and at the World Cup with the French national side, but still has his best years ahead of him.

The £120m price tag is significant. It would be the second most expensive signing in Premier League history, only £5m behind Alexander Isak, and would heap pressure on the player and the club if it goes through.

Everything now hinges on whether Liverpool and PSG can bridge the gap in negotiations over the next few days. If the club can get this over the line before the deadline, it could be the signing that helps change the club’s fortunes this season.
