John Spencer had given the home side the lead, but Macca scored either side of half-time for Roy Evans‘ men.
Liverpool went on to finish third in the Premier League that season. It was the one where Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan made his ‘I will love it’ rant as Manchester United pipped them to the title.
