Federico Chiesa has declared his eagerness to kickstart his Liverpool career under Andoni Iraola.
The 28-year-old attacker endured a frustrating two-year period under former manager Arne Slot, making just two starting appearances in all competitions as he struggled with fitness and limited first team opportunities.
However, following the arrival of Iraola, the Italian international feels reinvigorated and determined to prove his value to the club.
Speaking to reporters after a pre-season training session in Chicago, Chiesa offered an honest assessment of the previous campaign, acknowledging that the squad failed to meet its high standards from previous seasons.
“I want a new chapter here,” Chiesa insisted when asked about his future at the club. “Last season was difficult for everyone, and personally I did not get the minutes I wanted.
“But now we have a fresh start with a new manager who brings incredible energy and clear ideas. The intensity in training is very high, and that suits my game much better.
“I am feeling good physically and I want to show the supporters what I can really do.”
With two more warm-up games remaining on the American tour, Chiesa is expected to receive substantial playing time as he competes for a starting spot in the opening Premier League fixture at Newcastle in four weeks time.
