Jeremie Frimpong is now all-but fit, but Liverpool have decided not to rush him back, according to the Mail’s Lewis Steele.
The Dutch international has had rotten luck with injuries since he joined the club. Andoni Iraola ruled him out for more than a month with a problem he suffered at Brentford on 17 October, and he could now play this weekend if needed.
Given how many knocks he’s had, though, a decision has been made to delay his return. He’ll be given the international break to keep working on his recovery.
Liverpool were recently punished for bringing Dominik Szoboszlai back too quickly. The Hungarian pulled up shortly after his first start on his return, and that set him back a fortnight.
Frimpong’s record at Anfield is a stark contrast to his time in Germany. Transfermarkt show he missed only seven Bayer Leverkusen games through injury in four years at the club, but he has already sat out nearly 30 Liverpool matches. Most of those absences have been hamstring related, which is why nobody is taking any chances.
