“The Gary Macca Song” celebrates Gary McAllister, who joined Liverpool on a free transfer in 2000 at the age of 35 and became a cult hero in the treble winning 2000-01 season, not least for his last gasp free kick winner against Everton at Goodison Park. The chant’s extra verses were tacked on over time as McAllister added further goals and penalties on the run to that season’s FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup treble.
