Gilberto Mora hints at possible Liverpool move

The 18-year-old Mexican midfielder who has been linked with a possible move to Anfield in January has set social media alight by giving the thumbs up to a Liverpool shirt.

Gilberto Mora’s name has been linked with Liverpool, alongside usual suspects Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

“I’ve been told in Tijuana that they received, through Gilberto Mora’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, an offer from an English club, in this case Liverpool,” said local journalist David Faitelson revealed on the Mexican sports channel, TUDN.

“It would be a historic figure, above $50m, for Xolos de Tijuana for Gilberto Mora, who turns 18 next week.”

The teenager already has 13 caps for Mexico, including a start against England in the round of 16 at the World Cup last summer.

He has been exceptional for his club Club Tijuana too, establishing himself as an impressive goalscoring midfielder who already has five goals in seven matches this season, while he has also played as a striker when needed.

This latest social media clip is far from a definitive confirmation of an impending transfer, but it does give Liverpool fans hope that we can beat our Premier League counterparts to one of the most exciting prospects in world football right now.
