Inter Milan prepare increased offer for Curtis Jones

Inter Milan are preparing an increased transfer bid of £30m for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as negotiations over the 25-year-old midfielder intensify.

The Italian side have already completed the acquisition of John Stones this summer and are determined to add another England international to their squad before the European transfer window closes.

An initial formal approach worth approximately £21m was swiftly turned down by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, but the Milan club now intend to submit a revised offer.

Liverpool remain firm in their stance that the academy graduate will not be allowed to leave for less than £35m.

Head coach Andoni Iraola has maintained that he values the versatile midfielder, especially given the tactical demands of his energetic pressing system.

However, with the player yet to commit to a contract extension, this summer represents the final realistic opportunity to secure a substantial fee rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

Further talks between the two clubs are scheduled for the coming days as the Italian side attempts to strike a deal before the new season gets underway.
