Iraola is feeling the Anfield energy

Andoni Iraola faced the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s big Premier League clash with Arsenal at Anfield.

After winning their latest five matches in all competitions, the Reds are starting to click under the new head coach.

However, Iraola is aware that Premier League form needs to improve if Liverpool are going to go into the second half of the season as title challengers.

“Winning helps a lot, winning five games is nice but just two in the league,” he said. “We know we need to improve a lot but if we can do this process when you’re winning, it is always nicer.

“Am I feeling the Anfield energy? It’s not just about winning, at Anfield, everyone feels when the team goes for it and when everyone is trying their best.

“Our fans will be there to help the team, they help us massively. Against Chelsea the atmosphere is really good. We can create this, it is special.”

Liverpool are in fourth place, six points behind Arsenal in second. A win would narrow that gap and bring them right back into contention.

“I think it is too early to start looking at the standings,” he added.

“It is about preparing ourselves for a very difficult game.

“We know Arsenal and how good they are. They have very good players, working a lot in synchronicity, and we have to be ready for that challenge.

“It’s going to be a demanding game but we also trust our players, trust ourselves and in the good atmosphere we will for sure have on Sunday, I hope we will be at level to win this game.”
