Isak feels good ahead of Brighton game

Alexander Isak is back fit again and starting to score the goals we paid the big money for.

“It was a short time I was out so I don’t feel like I’ve missed too much, so I feel good,” he told the official site. “It feels like the team is in a good place so yeah, excited.”

The Swedish striker has scored five goals in six Premier League appearances so far this season, with match winners against Ipswich Town, Bournemouth and Brentford.

Brighton haven’t conceded a goal in all four of their games so far in October, so are likely to be difficult to break down on Sunday.

Also, Liverpool have struggled at Anfield in the Premier League so far this season, going winless in their last five home matches. Their only longer winless runs at home came between November 2002 and February 2003 (seven games) and December 2020 and March 2021 (eight games).

“It’s definitely one of the tougher opponents that you have in the league but I think in the Premier League in today’s football, there are no easy games,” he added.

“So, I don’t think you need any motivation to do that, I think it’s already there. We know it’s going to be tough, but we play at home and we have to go to win.”

Isak will need to be sharp to get on the scoresheet against the Seagulls but, with Bradley Barcola given the all clear by the boss and Rio Ngumoha hopefully putting in a repeat of Tuesday night’s performance against Villarreal in the Champions League, there should be no shortage of chances up front.
