Liverpool 2 Brighton 0 – Watch the Highlights

Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, and you can watch the highlights below. Two goals inside the first 21 minutes were enough to give Andoni Iraola his first Premier League home win as Liverpool head coach.

Liverpool 2-0 Brighton: the key moments

Brighton arrived at Anfield on a strong run, having scored 23 goals in their first seven league games of the season, and they started the brighter of the two sides. Yasin Ayari had a golden chance in the 14th minute but blazed it over the bar with the goal gaping, and the visitors were made to pay for that miss very quickly.

Liverpool took the lead in the 17th minute when a Florian Wirtz shot took a deflection off Pascal Gross and looped into his own net. Four minutes later it was two. Bradley Barcola’s cross found Alexander Isak inside the box and the Swede finished to double the lead, scoring in a third consecutive Premier League game.

That quickfire spell stunned Brighton, and Liverpool could have had more before the break. Ronald Araujo tested the goalkeeper just before the interval, and Brighton also had a scare of their own when Charalambos Kostoulas forced a save in first-half stoppage time.

How the second half played out

Brighton had the bulk of the possession after the break, but Liverpool stayed disciplined and the visitors struggled to turn that into anything clear-cut. Ayari hit the woodwork after a rare error from Alisson, and Maxim De Cuyper had a decent look at goal, but the Reds held firm to keep a clean sheet. Cody Gakpo also had an effort blocked as Liverpool looked for a third on the counter.

There was a late blow for Liverpool as Wirtz went off injured, with Trey Nyoni coming on in his place, while Rio Ngumoha was also given some minutes after replacing Barcola.

What the result means

The win ended Brighton’s unbeaten run and handed them only their second defeat of the season. For Liverpool, it was an impressive performance, with the attacking quartet of Wirtz, Isak, Barcola and Gakpo looking sharp together. The three points move the Reds up to fourth in the table.

It was also a first league win at Anfield under Iraola, and after a slow start at home that will mean plenty to the manager and supporters alike. Keeping a clean sheet against one of the Premier League’s highest-scoring sides is another positive to take from the afternoon. Isak now has six league goals this season, and you can follow every player’s numbers in our Liverpool player stats for 2026/27.
