Liverpool return from the international break with a home clash against Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola stepped down at the end of last season after a decade in charge, with Enzo Maresca taking over the helm at Manchester City in the summer.
That makes this Sunday’s clash at Anfield Maresca’s first trip to Merseyside in charge of the reigning champions.
While the dugout has changed, the tactical stakes remain just as high. Maresca has maintained the momentum left by Pep, with City sitting top of the table, three points clear of Arsenal and six ahead of Liverpool.
However, facing an electric Anfield atmosphere presents his stiffest domestic examination to date.
For Liverpool, the primary objective will be disrupting City’s rhythm by controlling the midfield before the visitors can settle into their shape.
If the Reds can exploit space behind City’s high line they stand a strong chance of claiming bragging rights on Sunday.
After the recent guilty verdict handed down to City, the game will be full of tension. It’ll be noisy around Anfield and tempers are likely to flare on the pitch too.
If you’re not already aware, we’ve been working on a brand new score prediction game and are now in the final few weeks of testing.
It’s fairly basic, but allows us the opportunity to give away some prizes through the year.
For now, please help us test it by making your prediction and adding time of first goal (as this will be used as a tiebreaker, so don’t forget).
