The international break is finally over, at least for a few weeks. Liverpool are back in action, traveling to Turf Moor to take on a resurgent Burnley side. While we all know these fixtures can be tricky, Arne Slot‘s men will be full of confidence after their perfect start to the season, sitting top of the table after three wins from three. The squad looks incredibly strong, with new signing Alexander Isak finally making the move from Newcastle United and raring to go.
Burnley, meanwhile, have shown glimpses of real grit, especially in their home victory over Sunderland last month. They will be well-organised and look to exploit any defensive vulnerabilities on the counter-attack, with striker Lyle Foster as their main threat. We can’t afford to be complacent. The key for Liverpool will be to establish control of the midfield early, using the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz to dictate the tempo and create chances.
The defensive partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate will need to be at its best to deal with Burnley’s directness. Up front, all eyes will be on Mohamed Salah, who remains our talisman, and whether Slot will opt for Isak over Ekitike up top. A solid performance in the engine room and an energetic front line should be enough to see us through and maintain our unbeaten record.
