Alexander Isak is determined to leave Newcastle United and join Liverpool during this summer transfer window.
The Magpies rejected a £110m bid from the Reds on 1 August. Since then there has been no updates on transfer activity, other than reports that the Swedish striker is refusing to train with the squad.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein is now claiming that ‘Isak is adamant he will never represent Newcastle again.’
Magpies boss Eddie Howe is trying his best to manage the situation, saying that “everything is in play” when it comes to Isak’s future but that it was “clear” he “cannot involve” the striker in his current plans. As such, he is not expected to play any part in Newcastle’s Premier League opener at Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
It’s quite possible thsat this story will rumble on until the 1 September transfer deadline day. Expect a late increased bid from Liverpool then, which Newcastle will be forced to accept.
