Liverpool have agreed to sign Monaco midfielder Fabinho in a deal worth up to £45m.
The Brazil international will likely be followed by the departure of Emre Can.
“This is something that I always wanted – this is a giant of a team,” said Fabinho. “I am really excited.”
Jugen Klopp was understandably happy with the deal, as he prepares to bolster his squad for the season ahead.
“He has ability and the mentality to play at the highest level in a number of positions,” said the manager.
“He is tactically very strong and football smart. I think he improves our squad and there aren’t that many players you can say that about in this moment.
“This signing gives us new opportunities and for that I am excited.”
