Liverpool have entered into advanced negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz.
The Reds have submitted a second, improved £109m bid for the 22-year-old Germany midfielder, including add-ons, although this is well short of the £126m price tag the Bundesliga club have put on him.
If successful, Wirtz will follow fellow Leverkusen player Jeremie Frimpong to Anfield, after the Dutch defender completed his move on Friday, although Bayern Munich and Manchester City are monitoring developments.
