Man Utd v Liverpool – Match Preview

Liverpool go to Old Trafford on Monday night looking for their first win of the season, after draws with Fulham and Crystal Palace. (kick-off 8pm)

Form may not be great but it’s a hell of a lot better than Man Utd’s. Defeats to Brighton and Brentford leave Eric Ten Hag’s team rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and looking woeful.

Roberto Firmino is back in contention, but Thiago, Diogo Jota and Joel Matip remain injured, while Darwin Nunez starts his three-game suspension for his head-butting incident against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United have won just one of their past 12 Premier League games against Liverpool (D6, L5), while Jurgen Klopp‘s men could win four consecutive league meetings between the two sides for the first time since 2002 and are also looking to win three straight away league matches against United for the very first time.

Liverpool have failed to win either of their opening two matches of a Premier League season for the first time since 2012. They could draw their opening three league games of a season for the first time in their history.

However, Klopp’s side remain unbeaten in all 21 of their Premier League fixtures so far in 2022 (W16, D5). Mohamed Salah is one goal away from becoming the first Liverpool player in history to reach double figures against United, having scored eight goals in his last four games against them.
