Liverpool have no plans to recall Harvey Elliott in January, according to reports.
The Liverpool midfielder is currently on loan at Aston Villa but, despite a promising start at Villa Park at the start of the season, he’s fallen out of favour with manager Unai Emery and hasn’t played in the last five games.
There’s an obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal, meaning Aston Villa will have to pay £35m to make the move permanent if Elliott makes 10 appearances this season. It could well be that Emery has decided he doesn’t want him beyond the loan spell.
However, Liverpool don’t have the automatic right to recall in January. Both clubs would have to agree on such a move.
All of this leaves Elliott frozen out at a time when Arne Slot could really do with some creativity back in Liverpool’s midfield.
