Darwin Nunez on on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia, after Al-Hilal have reached an agreement in principle to sign the Uruguayain striker from Liverpool.
The deal for €53m plus add-ons (£46.1m) has “been struck verbally,” and Nunez has indicated “his willingness to accept the proposed move.”
As we said on this week’s All Things Red VIP newsletter, it looked like a farewell departure by Nunez after Monday’s friendly with Athletic Madrid at Anfield.
It will be sad to see him go. Despite his low scoring rate, he has given 100% during the three years he’s been at the club and we all wish him well for the rest of his career.
Getting Nunez off the payroll frees the way for the Reds to up their bid for Alexander Isak, although Newcastle are holding fast as they attempt to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, who is preferring a move to Man Utd.
It’s very much like a property chain, but we’re hopeful it’ll all pan out as Liverpool, and Isak, wants.
