The referee for the Netherlands game with Germany, Ovidiu Hategan, recently lost his mother.
Right after the full-time whistle the Liverpool defender went to comfort him. After the game he explained…
“He told me his mom recently passed away. He broke down and started crying. I consoled him and told him he refereed well. Its a small thing, but I hope it helped. I wished him strength and said that he had done well.”
Referee Ovidiu Hategan recently lost his mother. Right after the FT whistle Virgil van Dijk went towards him to comfort him, while crying. This is beautiful.
