Where now for Liverpool’s free agents?

Liverpool FC have confirmed that James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino will leave the club at the end of the season.

They have come to the end of their current contracts and will become free agents this summer. The club are keen to pay tribute to all four at the final home game of the season against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.

“The quartet will each embark on new chapters in their careers following the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, having helped the Reds lift a host of the game’s biggest honours during their spells at Anfield,” read a club statement. “All four players will depart with our gratitude and appreciation for the contribution they have made.”

Milner is already being strongly linked with a move to Brighton and Hove Albion, while the future of the other three are less certain. Firmino has been attracting attention from Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent weeks.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with Aston Villa and Newcastle, while it is believed that Keita is likely to return to Germany.
