Real Sociedad boss Imanol Alguacil has put the cat amongst the pigeons by suggesting Martin Zubimendi may yet change his mind over a move to Liverpool.
“We knew that with the year he has had they would come for him,” he said. “Liverpool is a historic and very big team and, seeing all the money they wanted to put on the table, you have to value what it means that Martin has said ‘no’, to stay here.”
“This happens every year to everyone, to all the managers and sporting directors, every summer there’s movement.
“And I won’t even tell you if Zubimendi leaves or not last minute.”
Zubimendi has until 30th August to change his mind but, after such a snub, we can’t see that happening now.
