Three wins from three games and Liverpool are looking good.
When Jurgen Klopp announced that he was leaving the club at the end of last season we all feared how we would cope without the great man. As it happens, we’ve coped pretty well.
Arne Slot is different. He is calm and methodical rather than intense and emotional. Less fist pumps and more thumbs up.
There are lots of fans who thrive on football filled with drama and unpredictability but there are others, like myself, who enjoy a quiet life with a much lower blood pressure.
This is in no way a criticism of Klopp. The man is a legend and brought us glory that we had only been able to dream of for many years. Unfortately, in order to get there I, and many others, had to suffer heart alpatations on a regular basis along the way.
Slot has already instilled a much more calm approach to the game. He is not particularly animated on the touchline and he’s got the players in a much calmer frame of mind. As a result they are less reckless, more composed and play with unflappable confidence.
Sunday’s 3-0 win at Man Utd was a perfect example of this and it was a delight to enjoy watching the Reds without having to loosen my collar.
There will be many fans moaning about this change of style on social media. It gives them less to argue about and less drama to bemoan. However, my doctor approves of this new calmer life.
