37 days to go (but who’s counting) until Liverpool FC kick off their 2023/24 campaign and things seem to be falling into to place just nicely.
Just like a software update on your iPhone, or Android if you are that way inclined, LFC have gone out with the old and in with the new, with a few exceptions. Naby Keita and James Milner left at the end of last season and it looks like Thiago may also be on his way. What are we gonna do? Let’s bring in a World Cup-winning midfielder who would have brought in a stack of fantasy points for people last year and a young Hungarian who seems very HUNGRY (pun intended) on making his mark.
Top that off with Trent Alexander-Arnold in his new role, Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones, who both have just won the Under 21 Euros – Jones getting man of the match in the semi and final, Stefan Bajcetic and the experience of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson (assuming Stevie doesn’t lure him to Saudi with a belly dance and briefcase) and we are seriously looking stacked for next season.
Having said all that, I feel we need some defensive reinforcements to compete the reboot and push on from here. If you believe the rumours, we should end up with another 28 defenders before the window closes, but in all seriousness, I feel another world-class centre-back and a first choice and backup right-back and we will be in business.
I for one am super excited about this upcoming season. Last year was bound to happen and there could be an argument made that what have done this window, we should have done a year ago but here we are.
I look forward to another fantastic journey with you all. #WeGoAgain #YNWA
