It was the Liverpool team of old that took to the Anfield pitch on Wednesday evening.
The Reds were full of confidence as they dismantled a poor Qarabag side in the final game of the Champions League group phase.
Despite an early injury to Jeremie Frimpong, Arne Slot’s side dominated from the start. Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring with a header before Florian Wirtz doubled the lead.
The second half saw a rampant display. Mohamed Salah ended a scoring drought with a brilliant free-kick, followed by a solo effort from Hugo Ekitike. Mac Allister then added his second, and Federico Chiesa capped the rout late on. Virgil van Dijk stood out with a record-breaking three assists for a central defender.
