Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed that Giorgi Mamardashvili was taken to hospital following his injury during Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
The Georgian keeper was forced off on a stretcher and third choice keeper Freddie Woodman stepped in to help the Reds to a much-needed 2-1 win over Everton.
“He has gone off to hospital,” Slot told reporters after the game. “It looked to me, and it is also what they told me, an open wound.
“It will not be a long term injury, let’s see if he will be available next week.”

With Alisson still ruled out with a hamstring injury, Slot will be hoping Mamardashvili will be fit in time for next Saturday’s home clash with Crystal Palace.
