We’re now well into the summer transfer window and Premier League clubs are keen to get their major signings done in time for pre-season.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Alexander Isak is now back on track after the club returned to training following Diogo Jota‘s death.
Isak is under contract at Newcastle until the summer of 2028, so there’s no urgency for the Magpies to sell, but the player has apparently indicated his desire to join Liverpool.
Despite Newcastle insisting Isak is not for sale, they are themselves attempting to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike. Their latest £70m bid has been rejected, but they are expected to increase that shortly.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are preparing a £120m bid for Isak, which would break their record deal for Florian Wirtz just a few weeks ago. This offer appears to be dependent upon the Reds selling Darwin Nunez. Napoli’s interest ended when they heard of the £70m price tag, but there are clubs in Saudi Arabia keeping an eye on developments.
There are a lot of pieces to fall into place before any possible Isak move, but there’s a strong chance of it happening before the transfer window closes on 1st September.
