Liverpool go into Saturday evening’s Premier League clash against West Ham at Anfield with a growing injury list.
Curtis Jones picked up a thigh strain during the 2-1 win over Norwich and is doubtful to make the matchday squad, while Thiago is still recovering from his hamstring injury picked up in the warm-up ahead of last weekend’s Carabao Cup Final.
Joel Matip missed Wednesday night’s game through illness and is not expected to be in the starting XI, while Naby Keita remains absent with an unknown injury and Roberto Firmino is still out with a muscle injury.
“Thiago will not be available for tomorrow,” confirmed Jurgen Klopp in the pre-match presser. “Curtis is not bad but if it is good enough to go again tomorrow, I don’t know.
“Joel Matip is ill – no COVID, nowadays you can be ill in different ways as well – so he will not be available.
“Naby was not in the squad on Wednesday. Bobby is looking good but not good enough for the weekend. I think the plan is that he trains on Sunday, first time. That sounds then doable for Tuesday.”
A win would give the Reds a huge boost in the title race, moving them three points behind Man City with a game in hand and better goal difference. Pep Guardiola’s team would then need to get a result against Man Utd in the derby on Sunday.
