Liverpool have sanctioned the permanent transfer of Luca Stephenson to newly-promoted Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
The Trotters finalized a £700,000 deal to secure the former Under 18’s captain, who had entered the final year of his contract at the Reds.
The 22-year-old full-back spent the last two seasons on loan with Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership, surpassing 100 senior appearances overall and picking up a Young Player of the Season award north of the border.
Liverpool have protected their interests in the deal by inserting a 20% sell-on clause in the contract.
Having featured for the senior side during recent pre-season schedules under former boss Arne Slot, Stephenson leaves with the club’s full blessing to kickstart his permanent career in the second tier.
