Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is anticipated to depart Anfield for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
While rumours of an agreement had previously been dismissed back in May, The Athletic’s David Ornstein now reports that the 47-year-old is expected to make the switch this summer.
The move will see Hughes reunite with Simon Francis, his former technical director at Bournemouth, who recently left the south coast and has now taken up a similar position with Al-Hilal.
Although the precise timing of Hughes’ departure from Liverpool remains unconfirmed, he is expected to make the move after the conclusion of the current transfer window.
The news will be welcomed by many Liverpool fans, who blame Hughes for some of the major transfer mistakes since he joined the club back in March 2024, although he was the man to bring Andoni Iraola to Anfield, so hopefully he’s done something right.
