A 2-1 away win at AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night, with goals from Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez, was enough to earn Liverpool a place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
It was a stronger matchday squad than expected, showing how seriously Jurgen Klopp is taking the competition this season.
“It was a top, top cup game, said the Liverpool boss after the game. “It’s all about winning, it’s all about getting through.”
The Reds now face West Ham at home in the quarter-finals.
