The high-stakes pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande has exploded into life today, following the Ivory Coast’s narrow 2-1 World Cup defeat against Germany in Toronto.
The brilliant 19-year-old winger hinted that he would be open to a move to the Premier League this summer.
“I don’t know. I’m an RB Leipzig player, but why not?” he said. “My agents will sort that out.”
Liverpool have already contacted to Leipzig to declare their willingness to table a massive £86m package for the teenager, who has been designated as the long-term replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah.
Leipzig are playing extreme hardball and want closer to £112 million, but the Anfield recruitment team are pushing hard to lock down an agreement, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly preparing to rival the deal, making speed of the essence for sporting director Richard Hughes.
