Szoboszlai confident Liverpool can bounce back

After a disappointing 25/26 season under Arne Slot, Liverpool are looking to challenge for silverware again under new head coach Andoni Iraola, when the season gets underway next month.

Dominik Szoboszlai believes the Reds can bounce back under the former Bournemouth boss, who is known for his high intensity, physical style of play, in stark contrast to the previous manager.

“I’m convinced we can compete, and I’m hopeful that with the new coach, Andoni Iraola, we’ll be heading in the right direction,” said Szoboszlai.

“When I was a kid, I always dreamed of winning the Champions League, probably more than winning the Premier League.

“But now that I’ve had a taste of it, I absolutely want to win the Premier League again because it was so incredible in 2025.”

Szoboszlai will be key to the new style of football and is willing to play any position required of him.

“I could easily say, ‘I don’t want to play fullback; either you put me in the middle, or I’m not playing’,” he added

“But I don’t do that because I want to help my team in every way possible. And I want to win, regardless of the position I’m forced to play.”

This is good to hear, as Szoboszlai’s representatives continue talks with the club back over an extension to his current 2028 contract.

We don’t want another Alexander-Arnold or Konate situation, so the sooner that’s agree the better.
