Alexander Isak has handed Liverpool’s new manager Andoni Iraola the perfect reassurance by ending a gruelling 13-month physical absence from the international stage.
The 26-year-old striker starred on his World Cup debut for Sweden in the early hours of Monday morning, leading his country to a resounding 5-1 thrashing of Tunisia at the Monterrey Stadium in Mexico.
He played almost the entire match, coming off in stoppage time, marking the first time the £125 million forward has successfully completed a full 90 minutes since May 2025.
Isak topped off his performance with a trademark clinical goal, two assists and the Man of the Match award.
The display offers Iraola immense encouragement that his star striker is rediscovering peak fitness just in time to spearhead Liverpool’s aggressive new pressing system next season.
