Liverpool FC have reportedly already started formal talks with Andoni Iraola following Arne Slot’s sacking as head coach on Saturday morning.
The former Bournemouth boss has been in talks with Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan this week, but is still open to the Liverpool job, according to Sky Sports.
The 43-year-old Spaniard has a strong relationship with Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes after their time together at Bournemouth a couple of years ago.
Hughes convinced the Cherries to hire Iraola from Rayo Vallacano in 2023. He went on to help Bournemouth finish this season in sixth place and qualify for the Europa League next term.
Such a move would likely be popular with fans, after losing out on Xabi Alonso to Chelsea.
