Richard Hughes is being urged to make RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande the first official signing of the Andoni Iraola era, following a standout performance at the World Cup.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield as the ideal marquee replacement for Mo Salah, who officially leaves the club when his contract expires on 30 June.
The Athletic recently reported that the Reds have opened formal talks with the German club for the winger, who commands a price tag in the region of £86m.
Diomande did his reputation no harm on Monday morning, putting in a brilliant player of the match display during Ivory Coast’s Group E opener against Ecuador in North America.
