July 3 marks the first anniversary of the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva after a fatal car crash in Spain, travelling back to Liverpool for pre-season training.
The footballing world mourned alongside Diogo’s family and Liverpool players and staff struggled to come to terms with Diogo’s loss.
Players from around the world recreated some of his famous goal celebrations, fans paid tribute with mosaics and minutes silences and several former clubs released memorial kits in the brothers’ honour.
The number 20 shirt that Diogo wore for Liverpool was retired by the club across all of its teams.
Diogo will always be our lad from Portugal.
