Tottenham want Cody Gakpo

Tottenham are preparing a £60m bid for Cody Gakpo, according to reports.

Liverpool are keen to offload the Dutchman as new head coach Andoni Iraola prepares for his first season in charge of the club, and several news sources are suggesting that he could be on his way to London. Fabrizio Romano hinted at a move last week.

“We have to see what’s going to happen around Cody Gakpo in case Liverpool receive an important proposal because Liverpool want to go and strengthen the winger’s position, already lost Mohamed Salah,” he said.

“Let’s see if some club arrives with proposal with Cody Gakpo because there is interest in Cody Gakpo. Then it’s going to be on Liverpool to decide whether he’s going to stay, or whether he’s going to leave.

“There’s going to be a club decision, with the coach as well, Andoni Iraola, but don’t forget that Liverpool are very busy with wingers.”

Selling Gakpo would free up funds to go after Yan Diomande, which would certainly be an upgrade for the Reds if that deal can be struck with RB Leipzig.

Spurs need to strengthen their squad if they are to avoid a repeat of this last season’s nervy ending, in which they narrowly avoided relegation. New boss Roberto Di Zerbi is also being linked with a move for Savinho from Manchester City.
