Liverpool rise up football rich list

Liverpool were the top Premier League club with the highest revenue last season, according to the annual Deloitte Football Money League.

The Reds rose from eighth last year to fifth this time, with a total revenue €836m, €7m more than Man City in sixth. However, that figure is well short of Real Madrid’s €1.16B at the top of the table.

“Liverpool’s strong performance was driven by on-pitch performance, Champions League revenues and a 7% increase in their commercial revenues,” said Marco D’Elia, assistant director in the Deloitte Sport Business Group.

“That is driven by more focus on non-matchday events at Anfield, including concerts by Taylor Swift and corporate events. They also benefited from the challenges of other Premier League clubs, particularly Manchester City and Manchester United.”
