Wataru Endo injury latest

Wataru Endo is the latest Liverpool player to get injured, while playing at right-back for the Reds.

The 33-year-old Japanese international fell awkwardly on his ankle during Wednesday night’s 1-0 win at Sunderland. He initially got back onto his feet to help defend a corner, but soon went to the ground again. After several minutes of treatment on the pitch, he had to be stretchered off.

“Yes, it’s a serious one,” said Arne Slot after the game. “How serious we don’t know yet because it still has to be assessed tomorrow, but it doesn’t look good.

“It’s his foot, but if it is his ankle or his foot, that is what we have to assess tomorrow.

“I assume he will be out for a long, long time. What is long, it is difficult to say at this moment but you can hardly believe what this right full-back position brings us this season.”

Endo joins Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong on the club’s injury list, although fans will be relieved to see Dominik Szoboszlai back from his one-game suspension for the FA Cup clash with Brighton at Anfield on Saturday.
