Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is mourning the loss of his father.
Jose Becker was swimming in a lake on his property in southern Brazil when he drowned on Wednesday, police have confirmed.
He was reported missing at 5pm before the Cacapava do Sul Fire Department later located his body during their search at 11:59pm.
Alisson’s former club and the club his brother Muriel now plays for, Fluminense have issued a statement:

Liverpool FC have also now taken to Twitter to issue a statement:
We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of Alisson Becker’s father, Jose, in Brazil on Wednesday.
The thoughts of everybody at the club are with @Alissonbecker and the Becker family at this incredibly sad and difficult time ❤️
