Inter Milan have submitting an improved package worth £21.6m plus a future sell-on clause for Curtis Jones, according to reports.
The revised bid marks a significant shift from the Serie A club’s opening proposal of £17.3m, which was swiftly rejected by sporting director Richard Hughes.
While a small valuation gap still remains between the two clubs, with Liverpool initially holding out for closer to £26m, the inclusion of a sell-on percentage has significantly progressed negotiations.
Anfield officials are highly conscious that this window represents their final opportunity to command a fee for the homegrown star before his contract expires at the end of next season.
