Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Brighton on Saturday was much-needed, but it wasn’t all good news for Arne Slot, with several more injuries to worry about ahead of Saturday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
Goal hero Hugo Ekitike was substituted in the 78th minute on Saturday after picking up a knock. The issue wasn’t discussed in the post-match press conference, so it’s quite likely it was just precautionary, although wel” know more shortly.
Joe Gomez picked up a muscle injury andwas replaced by Mo Salah on 26 minutes. This is of more concern to Slot as we prepare for the busy festive schedule.
“If I have a player who goes off with a muscle injury like Joe, that’s normally not a positive thing,” said the manager after the game. “I would not expect him to be in the squad next week, but sometimes you get a positive surprise.”
Liverpool’s talisman Dominik Szoboszlai also picked up an injury when landing awkwardly late in the game. He was treated on the field and managed to get to the end, but he will be a doubt for the Spurs game.
“It was his ankle,” confirmed Slot. “It didn’t look great when I just saw him. But he has unbelievable mentality so let’s hope for the best.”
