Henderson injury latest

Liverpool’s injury woes worsened as Jordan Henderson was forced to leave the field during Saturday evening’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.

The Reds’ captain, already filling in at centre-back because of injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, will undergo assessment today.

Jurgen Klopp was forced to bring on the relatively inexperienced Nat Phillips but, despite the 23-year-old stepping in well, Liverpool went on to lose the game 2-0 – their fourth consecutive loss at Anfield.

“It’s the groin/adductor region and nobody in the medical department was positive about it,” said manager after the game.

“It doesn’t look good, but we have to wait, of course, for the scan tomorrow, hopefully.”

It is possible that such an injury could keep Henderson out for at least six weeks.
