Jeremie Frimpong discusses the low-block problem

As Liverpool prepare to take on Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday night, Jeremie Frimpong faced the press and was asked about Arne Slot’s complaints about the low-block tactic that is costing Liverpool dearly in the Premier League.

“For me, obviously when I’m on the pitch I’m going to use my ability to the best,” said the Dutch right-back. “I think I’m pretty comfortable going one against one against players and I know what I can do to the opposition and I believe in my ability.

“Of course if they play a low-block you have to break through them somehow and obviously if I can help with my ability I will use it.”

Have Liverpool qualified for the next round of the Champions League?

Last week’s victory in Marseille has left Liverpool in a very strong position not merely to secure a top-eight finish but very possibly a top-four slot in the group phase too.

However, Liverpool must beat Qarabag to be sure of avoiding the play-offs. A draw could be enough, but it depends how the nine teams below Liverpool do on Wednesday night.

So a must-win against Qarabag it the only guaranteed method of automatic qualification for the Round of 16. If Liverpool do win and finish in the top four, the second leg of their Round of 16 tie and any quarter-final tie will be at Anfield.
