A fine way to start the season for Liverpool. A clean sheet, 3 points and a few very promising individual performances. Arne Slot clearly got his message across at half-time, made a change in Quansah to Konate and never looked back.
Major positives to take
The individual performances of Trent, Szoboszlai, Jota and Mo were really impressive. They in particular looked razor sharp and we can expect that quartet to link up for many a goal this season. The ability for the team to handle a pretty wild atmosphere and a physical approach early on is to be expected but it was still nice to see. Just looks at Tottenham against Leicester, when the fans got behind the Foxes in the second half suddenly Spurs looked all at sea.
First half at Ipswich it’s fair to say it wasn’t free flowing, the possession in the opposition half was there and 6 corners were generated but without any real bite, highlighted by the 0 shots on target. In fact the Tractor Boys won the xG count for the first term with their 2 shots on target. Second half was a different game though and we really got going. xG of 2.42, 15 goal attempts, 5 on target and 68% tells the story. Jota should have had another really after a peach of a pass from Trent.
Combine Liverpool in your weekend multi
Again we have a situation where the boys are short odds to win the match this weekend. Around the 1/5 mark generally won’t be an attractive proposition for a single bet. It can make a good basis for an accumulator though. Our selections this week’s bet are;
- Liverpool Win
- Tottenham Win
- Fulham Win
