Positive Bradley and Gomez fitness updates

Arne Slot has given an update on the fitness of Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Leeds United on Saturday evening.

Joe Gomez got a knock in the West Ham game but was still able to start,” said the boss in Friday’s press conference. “He couldn’t make the full 90 minutes but I think he will be able to train again today.

“Yesterday was a recovery day for most of them, today we will train again and let’s see where they are.

“But Conor Bradley has trained this week, so I expect him to train today and then he is available to be in the squad tomorrow.”

Harvey Elliott update

Slot was also asked whether there was any update on whether Harvey Elliott could be recalled from his loan spell at Aston Villa, where he is getting a lot less first team action than expected.

“I haven’t had contact with him a lot,” he admitted. “I think only once or twice and that was before he played Feyenoord away and after he played Feyenoord away, but that had more to do with that he played against a former club of mine.

“So no, I haven’t been speaking to him. I am aware of his situation, of course. I knew how difficult it already was for him over here, so I think I know how he feels at this moment.

“But you should ask those questions at Villa and not over here when it’s about his playing time over there.”

Florian Wirtz confident

The manager is happy with Florian Wirtz‘s attitude as he returns to full fitness and gaining in confidence, as seen in Wednesday night’s game with Sunderland.
